Introduction

We take your privacy very seriously, and we take several steps to insure that it is respected. Here is our policy on what steps we take to safeguard the information we collect.

Scope

This policy covers how JRCS, Inc. (the owner of this website) treats personal, personally identifiable, and potentially personally identifiable information, how we protect it from disclosure, and why we collect it in the first place.

It does not cover the practices of third parties that we do not control.

Definitions

Personal information includes your name, email address, physical address, phone number, and any other information you provide that is not otherwise available publicly.

Personally identifiable and potentially personally identifiable information is information that can be combined with other information to derive personal information about you, such as which pages you have viewed on this site, or what page you viewed before coming to this site.

Collection

We collect personal information when you subscribe to a service on this site, or make a purchase using this site, or when you send us email. We collect this information to provide the content or product you request or purchase, or in the course of receiving and replying to email.

We collect personally identifiable or potentially personally identifiable information in the ordinary course of serving web pages. The browser software you are using sends requests to our web server, which logs each request before serving the requested page. The information your browser provides (and the server logs) includes your IP address, the time the request was made, and what page was requested. Your browser may also provide an identification of its version and an identification of your operating system. It may also provide the URL of the page that referred you to this site.

Usage

We only use the personal information we collect to provide you with the content or product you specifically request. We do not sell, rent, trade, lend, give away, or otherwise disclose the information, except when compelled to do so by law or court order, and we may also disclose this information to the editor of any content for which you are subscribed. We delete this information as soon as practical - immediately, in the case of a cancelled subscription. In the case where you made a purchase, we are required to retain the information for at least a year.

Email addresses we obtain from ordinary correspondence may be added to the address books of the persons who respond to the email. These addresses will never be disclosed in any manner contrary to this privacy policy, nor will they be added to any subscription list we maintain. The sole exception is for the case where the email address was obtained from an email that specifically requests that the email address be added to one or more subscription lists.

Personally identifiable and potentially personally identifiable information is retained long enough to ensure that no cases of abuse are occuring, typically three or four weeks. We may abstract statistical information from it, and share this information with third parties, but this statistical information will not contain anything that is even potentially personally identifiable. We also use this statistical information to improve the content available both from this site and via subscription services.

If you provide us with demographic information, we may use it to provide enhanced statistical information to our third party partners, but we will not disclose it without removing personal and personally identifiable information. The sole exception is that we will disclose this information to editors who specifically request it, and only to those who edit content to which you are subscribed. These editors must agree to the terms of this privacy policy.

Third parties

Third party advertisements may appear either on this site or in subscription content. While we are careful about our third party partners, we assume no responsibility for their actions.

Cookies

Cookies are small amounts of data stored on your web browser on behalf of a particular server. Each time your browser sends a request to the server that stored the cookie, it sends the cookie back to the server. Typically, cookies are used to store personally identifiable information that the server uses to enhance the content available to you, either by providing content tailored to your preferences, or automatically logging you in to "members only" sections. They may also be used for tracking and statistical purposes.

We use cookies to track affiliate links. If you enter this site via an affiliate referal link, we will attempt to store a cookie on your computer to identify which affiliate referred you.

We also use cookies to track which ezines are most popular and to better categorize the ezines listed in our directory.

Some of our third party partners may use cookies, and these cookies may be set from advertisements on this site.

Web beacons

So-called "web beacons" are images embedded into HTML formatted email messages. By reading your email in an HTML-capable, web-aware email agent (such as Microsoft® Outlook or Outlook Express), you access the web beacon. This informs the sender of the email message that the message has been read, at what time it was read, and that the email address is valid. If your email agent is integrated into your default web browser, it is possible for the sender of the web beacon to also set and retrieve cookies.

We use web beacons to gather statistical information. We deliberately do not collect personally identifiable information with them. We also do not use them to set or retrieve cookies.

However, editors who host ezines on this site may use web beacons in other ways.

Security

We limit access to personal information on our system to the personnel who have a reasonable need to access the information, either to provide you with the content, products and services you requested, or to ensure that our system stays secure and your privacy is not violated.

Sensitive information in our database is encrypted. We also verify everyone's email address before we let them access or update personal information, and before we add them to any subscription lists.

Changes

We review all of our policies periodically, and we may change this (or any other) policy at any time. It is your responsibility to periodically review this policy for changes. If you find an unacceptable change, your only recourse is to stop using this website and its associated services.
