5 unorthodox email subject tricks -500% more responses!

If your email subject line doesn't get read
-Nothing gets read!
And it is worse now!
**DoubleClick Q2 E-Mail Trends Report, published
in September 2002, reveals that e-mail marketing
click-through rates DROPPED in Quarter2-2002 to
4.9% from 6.8% in Quarter1-2002! These findings
are based on 1.7 billion emails sent out by hundreds
of clients. The report also reveals a bounce-back
rate of 12.6%! -An all time HIGH in Quater2-2002.**
The writing on the wall is clear! email marketing
strategies has to be redefined and innovated.
And the FIRST STEP begins with the subject line!
All the hard work that you have put up in setting
up your email becomes useless if it is deleted.
The 5 different methods listed here will add a
strong psychological punch to the subject line
which will increase the chances of your message
getting opened!
These suggestions are based on Research Data and
my own personal experience where I get a
click-through ratio of over 8%.
*#1: Keep The Subject Line Short And Different:*
The shorter the email subject line-the better. Add
a little mystery to it. If possible associate it
with money.
For e.g.: " John's $ 49.99 Refund!
The above subject line is what I use after my 5th
follow up for upgrading my eBook the Deluxe version.
Inside the body of the message the first sentence
is the exact 'refund message' he will be getting if
the customer choose for a refund after upgrading.
I have been receiving a click through ratio of about
7.5 to the URL,
http://www.learnhomebusiness.com/upgradeglobal.htm
*#2: Innovative Personalization On The Subject Line:*
Note the above subject line again!
"John's $ 49.99 Refund!
If the customer name is john,
It is better to say "John's $49.99 Refund!
--Than to Say, John your $49.99 Refund
This works best on your 3rd follow up onwards. Or if
your are giving something valuable like a Free Gift
you can use it on the First email. e.g. "John's Free Gift!
*#3: 'RE: In Subject Line Is Very Important To People:*
Is there a different way to use RE:?
Consider these two examples,
The usual one - Re: John, your income stream!
The one I use - John -re: Your Income Stream!
The second one is the one that I use to drive
traffic to the 50%-commission affiliate program for
all my 38 info products. Again I get a click through
ratio of 7.5% to the URL,
http://www.learnhomebusiness.com/affiliate.htm
*-#4: Use Quotation " In The Subject Line:*
Using quotation in the subject line arrests a persons
eyes on the subject line. e.g.: "John's $49.99 Refund!
*-#5: People Like To Be Updated, Upgraded And Remain Current:*
Use the word "update" and "upgrade" intelligently in the
subject line.
For e.g.: "John's important update. Open!
Whenever I add a new affiliate program, an email with the
above subject line goes out to my valuable customers. The
response rate has been good enough -especially when I
am inviting them to join under me.
*Additional Tip*
You can use the personalization suggestion given
above even in your autoresponder. For eg if the
personalization tag given to you by your autoresponder
is , all you have to do is Insert:
"'s $49.99 Refund! --which will read as
"John's $49.99 Refund! (Watch " and 's)
I hope this article to be of use to you. There are many
more 'email subject tricks' to be discussed which I will
be covering in a future article as I have already stolen
a major chunk of your valuable time!

| Push Email |
There's a lot of hype at the moment about push email technology. New cell phone handsets are beginning to support the technology and it seems to be getting its head into other areas of the market too. This could be the next big thing in the telecommunications industry and the speculation is heating up about who are going to be the major players involved. Right now there are at least five major operators in this market and surely this will be reduced in the near future. Most experts say that there are simply too many of them fighting over the same space. Right now both Visto and Seven have been keen to show their commitment to this technology. These are following the lead set by Canadian firm RIM (Research In Motion) who brought the technology into the spotlight with their Blackberry device. While so far they have been concentrating on supplying hardware, they have stated that they will be moving into the supply of software instead in the near future. The wave of consolidations has already begun. British vendor Comtag was acquired by Smartner who in turn was acquired by Seven; moving in parallel with this, Visto acquired Psion Software. It looks like the heat is turning up in the race to capture this market. Both Visto and Seven show no sign of flagging as they continue to increase the number of operators they can lay claim to, as well as increasing the number of handsets and other supported devices they are marketing. Seven has also added a useful security feature which allows you to send a special message to your device which will delete all the messages it currently has stored. This could be lifesaving if you left your handset in a public place. Good Technology was somewhat shielded in its area by supporting Palm and Windows devices but now there is the new Windows Mobile based Treos to contend with. So what is Microsoft's reaction to all of this? Well, they appear to be gearing up to enter the market. In his blog, Microsoft senior technology specialist, Harold Wong has reported that the company is getting ready to release its 'Community Technology Preview' build of Exchange Server 2003, Service pack 2. And this is not the only step the giant is taking. In June 2005, Intellisync announced a new service that would allow subscribers to receive push email on Windows Mobile, Palm OS and Symbian devices. While, of the current estimated 4 million push email subscribers, most seem to be using RIM Blackberry devices, this assault will be difficult to bare much longer. On the technical side, there are two basic technologies that can provide push email solutions: - one technology is true push;
- the other has a push effect using synchronization.
While the users will not notice a significant difference when they log in to check their mail, the costs vary to a considerable extent with true push technologies offering a far cheaper monthly cost to the user. While Intellisync is currently using a SyncML or synchronization technology to serve its customers, RIM and Microsoft are using their own proprietary systems. The system that has found favour both with Vodafone, the world's largest network operator, and Rogers, the first operator to deploy Blackberry devices is the solution that Visto opted for also. This is best described as a Proprietary + RTP/RTSP system and Visto calls it ConstantSync. It effectively relies on a real time streaming protocol to deliver email over mobile networks. Whatever the technicalities behind the networks, there is a lot to play for in this emerging market and we'll have to wait and see whose technology and handheld devices carry the most favour with customers. All have relative advantages and disadvantages both in terms of technology and market strategy and it all really is still to play for. | Write an Ezine? But I Don't Know HOW! |
Copyright © 2003 Priya Shah
http://www.health-ebiz.com
If you've been promoting your business on the internet you've probably heard how important it is to have a list. And that it's also important to publish an ezine.
So are you publishing and ezine? If not, why? Is it because you are too nervous or lack confidence?
I can understand how you feel. I've been there, even though I'm a journalist and published my own niche, non-profit newsletter for a year.
But when I started a home business and realized I needed to write about internet marketing - a subject I was still unfamiliar with - I froze up.
I simply could not think of anything to write about. I felt like I just did not have the experience and the knowledge I needed, because I was still learning.
I started my ezine only when things were really starting to take off and I had learned a good deal of what really worked for me in my business.
In retrospect, I don't think I'd have done it any differently, but I did learn a few things from my own experience that might make it less painful to start your new ezine.
1. Start With a Script
Writing the first few issues of your ezine is like starting a conversation with a new date.
You're nervous... you want to make a good impression. Most people will use a few tried and tested formulas to break the ice.
Similarly, when you want to start sending out your ezine, there are a lot of resources out there - tested formulas that experts have used with their own subscribers.
It could be a sales letter, an article, a tip, a template or anything else that you think could get you started with that first issue.
As on a first date, the conversation might be a bit awkward, your sentences may sound stilted. It could be a disaster as far as you're concerned. So what!
The first few articles I ever wrote make me cringe when I read them today. But I know I needed to write them to start building my own confidence.
Disastrous first dates leave much the same impression on people. But the similarity to dating ends there.
Because in writing an ezine you DO get a second (and third, and fourth...) chance to make an impression.
Your date may never call back, but with your subscribers, you can try again and again till you get it right.
If you do make a mistake (like sending out multiple copies by mistake), admit your mistake and apologize. You'll find that subscribers, unlike dates, can be quite forgiving.
When new network marketers approach a new prospect, they are always advised to use a script the first few times.
As they gain confidence, the words begin to flow more naturally and they are able to discard the scripts and become better at selling.
It takes time, and more importantly, practice, to get it right. But if you never start, how will you ever find out if you can do it?
2. Write Like You Speak
As you gain confidence in your ability to write and publish an ezine, you'll begin to get more comfortable with the process of publishing.
Now you might want to start writing your own editorials or tips, to make your ezine more personal and share your expertise in your subject.
To do this, imagine you're sitting in front of an old friend (or that your subscribers are your friends) and that you're bringing them up-to-date with what's been happening in your life.
If you had an experience, good or bad, while promoting your business, that taught you something new, share it with them in the most conversational tone.
Avoid rambling on interminably and leave out boring details that aren't crucial to what you learnt.
And always go back, read what you've written and edit it before you send it out to your list.
3. Keep Learning
There's no bigger turn off than an editor who knows less than her subscribers. So if you plan to write on a certain topic, make sure you do your homework.
If you're writing about eBook publishing, subscribe to all the ezines and article lists on that subject and read them to find out what's happening in that field. Then share the news with your readers.
You could also take some initiative and conduct a survey or two, find out something new about your field and write your own original articles or reports.
4. Speak Your Mind
Once you have established a publishing schedule and have developed a comfortable rapport with your subscribers, don't be afraid to share your opinion on new developments in your field.
If you have a strong opinion on something, its alright to say so. People feel more comfortable when they know where you're coming from, even if they don't always agree.
So what are you waiting for? Send out that first issue and take your business to a whole new level.
Make a date with your list now.
